Rising to the Challenges of Tall Building Construction
25/3/22
The way we look at the construction and engineering of tall buildings in the UK is changing. A post-pandemic attitude towards the way we live and work has given rise to questions over what the industry might look like in the future and what professionals in the sector can do to embrace a more hybrid style of building usage. Recent reports in the media show an emphasis on environmental, social, and corporate governance as well as overall attractiveness and quality becoming increasingly important. Moving into the next few years of design and development, experts in the built environment are not only anticipating changes in the way tall buildings are constructed but also a shift in the way that tall buildings integrate work, leisure, and residential spaces.
Returning by popular demand, the Tall Buildings Conference will take place in Central London on 21 June 2022. The event, which will showcase the innovations driving the sector forward, brings together industry leaders and pioneers, offering a wealth of knowledge and learning opportunities. Providing insight into revolutionary engineering principles, the Tall Buildings Conference gives delegates the chance to engage in invaluable networking and intelligence sharing with those at the forefront of technological building advances.
Bringing unmatched knowledge and expertise to the event, the conference will host a schedule of 16 high-profile speakers covering everything from case studies to the effect of the zero-carbon agenda on tall building construction. The event will look at the changing shape of skylines both in London and emerging cities such as Birmingham, Manchester, and Leeds. Highlights will include an overview of findings from the 2021 London Tall Buildings Survey from Peter Murray OBE, a case study on South Quay Plaza from Ben Wheeler of the Berkeley Group, and a presentation from Eric Parry, Founder and Principal of Eric Parry Architects. Further to this, attendees will hear from directors, CEOs, and partners from prestigious names such as RG group, Turner and Townsend, Wilkinson Eyre, PLP architecture, and many others.
The conference will also host the 2022 Tall Building Awards. The awards, which promise once again to be an event highlight, look to celebrate the people and businesses creating a legacy of superstructures while continuing to champion innovation and design. With twelve categories covering everything from residential to refurbished buildings, including Best Tall Building Contractor and Tall Building Technology Innovation Award, winners will gain recognition as some of the innovators spearheading transformation.
Now in its third year, following a highly successful 2019 sell-out event and a 2020 virtual event, the Tall Buildings conference 2022 is set to be the premier networking opportunity of the year for anyone working in the tall building sector. The event, aimed at major city developers, investors, local authorities, architects, engineers, and contractors, also offers excellent exhibitor opportunities. With places expected to sell out quickly, the conference provides a unique and valuable opportunity to position your business alongside the industry's brightest and best.
