Regal and 4C Propose Mixed-Use Development in Camden

28/11/24

Regal and 4C Group have proposed a mixed-use development at 33-35 Jamestown Road and 211 Arlington Road, Camden Town.

The plans include 187 student bedrooms, 27 affordable homes, and 3,500sqft of flexible commercial space.

Designed by Morris+Company, the project integrates Camden's architectural character with modern, active frontages and incorporates the historic 19th-century pub, 31 Jamestown Road.

Central to the development is a woodland-inspired courtyard with dense planting and gathering spaces, fostering well-being for residents and visitors.

The student accommodation offers tailored amenities, including study, social, and relaxation areas, in response to Camden's rising demand for purpose-built student housing near landmarks like Camden Lock Market and Regent's Park.

The 27 affordable homes, 35 per cent of total habitable rooms, include social rent and intermediate tenures, with private outdoor spaces and a shared biodiverse garden.

The south-facing garden features natural play areas and timber elements, promoting community and sustainability.

The flexible commercial units, with publicly accessible frontages and views of the courtyard, aim to attract local businesses, enhancing vibrancy and economic activity.

This partnership follows Regal and 4C's successful Haydon project, reflecting their commitment to thoughtful design and green spaces.

Steve Harrington, Planning Director, at Regal said: "Our partnership with 4C Group is rooted in a shared commitment to delivering great urban developments.

"Building on the success of 'The Haydon', this latest project in Camden demonstrates our aligned expertise and ambition to reshape underutilised sites into thriving, future-forward spaces.

"4C Group's ambition, coupled with Regal's strong development and construction capabilities is the ideal match.

"Together, we're bringing a richly layered development to Camden Town that meets community needs, supports biodiversity, and elevates urban regeneration."
