Mace has been appointed main contractor on the Edge London Bridge 28-storey office complex.

Dutch developer Edge has set an ambitious target for the project of becoming London's most sustainable office tower.

Mace will start work at the St Thomas Street site in January with completion scheduled for early 2026.

Construction information specialist Barbour ABI  is valuing the 260,000 sq ft development at £450m.

Fons van Dorst, Edge's Executive Managing Director UK, said: "Edge London Bridge will be a flagship scheme for the city that can set a new bar for sustainability in London offices.

"At Edge, we are committed to driving down the embodied carbon of our developments, with the aim of hitting absolute zero carbon by 2050 – as set out in our Roadmap. Mace's role as contractor will be pivotal in helping us to make construction of this scheme more efficient."

Gareth Lewis, CEO for Construct, Mace, said: "With strong sustainability credentials, the ambition of this scheme goes hand in hand with our own vision for a sustainable world.

"This is a fantastic opportunity to move the dial when it comes to delivering a truly sustainable building, both during construction and in operation and we are excited to be part of this journey.

"Mace has a strong record of delivery in the London Bridge quarter and we look forward to continuing to play our part in the transformation of this vibrant area."
