Launch of Concrete Future – GCCA 2050 Roadmap to Net Zero Concrete
28/10/21
Cement and concrete are vital to the world – providing the foundations for societies to thrive. As the most widely used material on earth after water, it is essential for building our homes, roads, schools, transport networks, cities, as well as our food and water supply systems.
It is therefore essential they decarbonise.
Join us for the launch of Concrete Future – the first industry-led global roadmap to a net zero future. We will outline the actions, levers and key milestones towards achieving a decarbonised sector, and the role others – from the construction industry to policymakers – can play towards helping to deliver the net zero future.
GCCA accounts for 80% of the global cement and concrete industry volume outside of China, and several of the largest Chinese manufacturers, like the China National Building Material Company (CNBM). In 2020 we came together as leaders in the sector to commit to a 2050 climate ambition and align with global climate targets. The launch will mark the culmination of work that our member companies and affiliates have undertaken over the last 18 months. We believe it will be a pivotal moment for our member companies, our industry, the built environment and the world.
