HG Construction has been selected to build a £69m build-to-rent scheme on a former car park in Leeds.

The contractor will deliver 375 homes for McLaren Living, McClaren Group's build-to-rent development arm. Construction is expected to complete in early 2027.

Designed by architects Carey Jones Chapman Tolcher, the BeckYard scheme will transform a site in Leeds' South Bank regeneration area which previously hosted a car park.

Alongside apartments, the scheme will also contain residents' lounges, shared workspaces, events areas and a gym. Residents will have access to 226 cycle spaces and 46 car parking spaces. Roof gardens will feature on the first, ninth and fourteenth floors.

Funding will be provided by European fund manager Heim Global Investor and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority's Brownfield Housing Fund.

HG Construction chief executive Adam Quinn said: "We are delighted that McLaren Living has chosen HG as their partner of choice for their BeckYard scheme in Leeds.

"BeckYard is HG's third project in the Leeds area and we are looking forward to further contributing to the city of Leeds and more specifically the South Bank area with this fantastic scheme."

BeckYard is HG Construction's fourth scheme for McLaren Group.

The contractor recently completed a £29m student accommodation scheme for Brighton University and an £18m timber-frame block for Anglia Ruskin University.

The two firms are currently working together to build a 156-bed student accommodation scheme in Brighton.
