Briggs & Forrester Appoints new MD

16/1/25

Building services specialists Briggs & Forrester has started 2025 with a new face at the helm of the company.

The firm has announced that Ian Lawrence, who has headed up the business as Managing Director for the last eight years, has stepped down from the role and has been succeeded by Will Newman.

Ian has been with the business for 36 years and will remain both a Briggs & Forrester Group board director and an Engineering Services board director, helping to transition the business to the new management structure.

He will also continue to oversee the marketing, quality and sustainability departments for the Group.

Will meanwhile started his career with the business as a Technical Trainee in 2002, progressing to the position of Project Manager. After a four-year absence, Will returned to the business in 2017 and has successfully overseen the growth of the South East as Regional Managing Director into a sustainable and profitable £80 million turnover region.

Speaking of the new appointment, Ian said: "As everyone knows the industry has faced challenging trading conditions during the last few years but it is pleasing that the business is thriving with a record order book of good quality work.

"It is therefore the ideal time to implement the next phase of our succession plan and hand over the reins to Will.

"I have no doubt that under Will's direction the business will continue to move from strength to strength and I very much look forward to supporting Will and the board during this period."
