Approval Given for Glasgow Student Flats Development

Plans have been approved to construct four student accommodation blocks in Glasgow, providing housing for 934 students.
The plans were put forward by property developer Summix Capital, who will also construct 11 commercial units as part of the plans.
The Central Quay site, in conjunction with land to the south, had been given planning permission in principle for a mixed-use development, including offices, residential, hotel, and associated ground floor commercial uses with access, parking, landscaping and associated works.
In June, those plans were approved by Glasgow City Council, giving the green light for construction to commence.
Stuart Black, Development Director for Summix Capital, described the proposals, saying: "Our vision is to facilitate regeneration of the Central Quay site, incorporating a truly mixed use development with a purpose built student residential scheme, private residential homes, high quality public realm and a modernisation strategy for the existing two Central Quay commercial premises, including supplementary retail, wellbeing and food and beverage opportunities, extensive green space and a sustainability strategy that investigates Net Zero Carbon in operation for key properties."
