Plans for a 24-storey mixed-use tower featuring apartments, an aparthotel and amenity space on a vacant brownfield site in Manchester are set to move forward.
Forshaw Land & Property Group acquired the one-acre plot which is adjacent to VOX Manchester and the Cornbrook Metrolink, from waterside regeneration specialist Peel Waters which is master-planning the wider Manchester Waters site.
As well as the aparthotel element, the proposed 24-storey development would consist of 224 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments and five, two- three- and four-bedroom penthouse apartments with private terraces.
Manchester City Council's Planning and Highways Committee is minded to approve the application, which includes a small area within Trafford Council's jurisdiction. Trafford has delegated authority to Manchester to rule on the proposal.
The proposal conforms to the development plan andm the report adds, would have a positive impact on the regeneration of this part of the city centre including contributing to the supply of high quality residential and hotel accommodation and removing a vacant and underused site.
Leach Rhodes Walker is the architect on the project and have taken design influence for the development from the historical industrial context of the site.
